Meanings of adversity:-- 

a stroke of ill-fortune,  something that happened to like very bad and terrible with someone or somewhere it's called adversity.

विपत्ति, दुर्वस्था, आपदा, दुर्दिन, 

Synonyms of adversity:-- 

 Catastrophe, hardship, difficulty, tragedy, scourge.

Example of adversity:--

Keep your mind calm even in an extremely adverse situation.
